Pieces of Flight
I start my process by painting on my Wacom Tablet. This beginning stage allows me to make many changes and add collage pieces, before I feel somewhat satisfied. My next step is printing on canvas, which is then mounted on board. From there, I use glazes, acylics and oil pastels to make more changes which finalizes the story I am trying to convey. Although my painting starts with a digital process, it's finished form is an original work of art.
A short statement of the proposed artwork's relationship to the theme of “Dog Days of Summer" (150-500 words).
This painting depicts the relationship between our many summer back yard birds and the humans that care for them. The large eyes in my painting are a metaphor for a level of bird watching that occurs when a human "sees" a friend in nature.
